Unlike Myst and Riven where the music is almost exclusively ambient, the music has ambience as background, but it's designed to be listened to. Some songs are more “musical” than others the Myst Theme, Mechanical Mystgate, and others include some lovely melodies and plenty of pizzicato strings. Even some of the harsher tracks (like those from the mechanical age) are soft enough to lull you to sleep.
